The Emerald Isle Immigration Center (EIIC) is delighted to announce that our Annual Fall Fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, October 28th, 2015 at the Manhattan Club, 201 West 52nd Street, (corner 7th Ave), New York, NY 10019 starting at 6.30p.m.

The Center was founded by members of the Irish Immigration Reform Movement (IIRM) in 1988 and throughout the years has served the needs of tens of thousands of New York Irish immigrants and other ethnicities. On a daily basis, the Center and its staff provide assistance on all aspects of immigration, social services, mental health, senior services and programs, employment and education. We are immensely proud of our services and the staff who deliver them, especially, as we enter our 27th year of service to the community.

In order to sustain the critical and increasing demand for our services, we need the support of our community for this event. We are hoping that you will join us that evening as we honor three individuals who typify the spirit of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center and acknowledge their outstanding contributions to the Irish Community.

Tickets for the Cocktail/Buffet function are $100.00 per person. Our Emerald Package consisting of a table of 10 and an Emerald page in our journal is offered at $1,200.00. Net proceeds will be applied towards the ongoing work and programs of services at both of our EIIC office locations.

Honorable Jeffrey D. Klein
New York State Senate (34th District)

State Senator Jeff Klein is a proven leader with more than two decades of experience in politics, law and public service. He currently serves as Senate Coalition Co-Leader and Leader of the Independent Democratic Conference, a conference which he co-founded in 2011. First elected to the state senate in 2004, Senator Klein has built a reputation as an effective and trusted public servant, authoring numerous laws directly impacting the health, welfare and economic prosperity of residents across New York State. During the financial crisis, Senator Klein authored and passed landmark legislation that prevented thousands of unnecessary foreclosures statewide. In 2014, Senator Klein was the prime sponsor of the New York SAFE Act, watershed legislation that provided New York with the toughest gun laws in the nation. Through Senator Klein’s leadership, New Yorkers can count on expanded access to essential programs and services including fully funded universal pre-kindergarten for their children, increased eligibility for senior support programs like SCRIE and EPIC. A lifelong resident of the northeast Bronx, educated in Bronx public schools, Klein holds a B.A. from Queens College, an M.P.A. from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a J.D. from the City University of New York Law School where he was also a member of the law review.

Rita Lydon Lenz
Trustee and Past President, Mayo Society of New York

Rita Lydon Lenz, was born in Woodside, New York. Her parents hailed from Tourmakeady, Co. Mayo and Bantry, Co. Cork. Rita was raised in Bellerose, Queens and was educated at St. Gregory the Great elementary school and Dominican Commercial High School. She acquired employment after graduation with Scaccia Concrete Company and City Transit Mix in Jamaica as a bookkeeper and has remained employed with them for the past thirty one years. Rita has always had a love for all things Irish and has maintained a strong connection to her Irish heritage and culture and the Irish American community. She is a dedicated member of the Mayo Society of New York and has served the Society in many capacities including as both Vice President and President. Rita is currently a Trustee of the Society. She is also a delegate to the United Irish Counties Association. She supports many Irish organizations throughout Long Island and the metropolitan area including the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens and the Emerald Isle Immigration Center. Rita is married to Justin Lenz since 1990 and they have two children, Erin 21, and Michael 19   Erin is currently a senior at The University of Hartford. Rita, Justin and Michael live in North Bellmore, New York.

Karen Keogh Persichilli
Managing Director, Head of State Government Relations, JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Karen Persichilli Keogh is Managing Director and Head of State and Local Government Relations for JPMorgan Chase & Co., overseeing lobbying and political activities in states and municipalities nationwide for the firm. Karen also manages the firm’s civic engagement initiatives. She joined the firm in July 2010. Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Karen was the President of KPK Strategies, LLC, a boutique political consulting firm based in New York City. From 2002 to 2009, Karen served in a number of key roles for U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton including New York State Director (2002-2007), Campaign Manager (2006) for Clinton’s successful re-election to the U.S. Senate and during Clinton’s 2008 Presidential campaign, she was NY State Director, serving as a senior political advisor and member of the National Delegate Selection committee. Before entering politics and government, Karen was a Social Worker at District Council 37-AFSCME, assisting New York City employees with housing matters. Karen received a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY-Stony Brook and a Master of Science degree from Columbia University. She resides in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn with her husband Mike and their daughter.
